Walk into either one of Acapillow's two stores and you'll feel a sense of being in the home of a well-traveled European. Acapillow blends antique, French ticking stripes and African wax prints. You'll see original '60's Cuban movie posters with vintage Persian block print pillows; a classic bench-made sofa draped with a sheepskin throw and a Kantha blanket, flanked with Moushrabi side tables. Spend some time digging into baskets filled with vintage tea towels, scarves, tablecloths and aprons. Grab a Moroccan embroidered market bag, pick out a kaftan top off the rack, a pair of Indian slippers out of a basket and head to the beach. Catch the scents of the French soaps and hand creams; or the earthy, essential oil blended, locally made soaps. And hang out a little longer, because the hand-picked playlist is playing the best selection of tunes you've heard in a while.
Since 1995, Acapillow has been manufacturing and wholesaling stylish and eclectic "real" products that are handmade, locally-made from up-cycled, recycled and reclaimed materials, collected from around the world. In 2004, founders Peter and Eleanor Path ventured into retail with two stores in Santa Monica, California, offering a hand-picked mix, blending modern and vintage furnishings, textiles, accessories, and art pieces. In addition, they run their own custom sew room for custom sewing, re-upholstery, curtains, cushions and pillows.
